Ann Arizona Tabor Daniel
December 2, 1932 – February 17, 2025
Ann Arizona Tabor Daniel, 92, of Naoma, WV, passed peacefully at Hilltop Center on Monday, February 17, 2025, and entered her Heavenly home with her Lord and Savior. Ann was born on December 2, 1932, at Saxon, WV, to the late Garrett and Sylvia Wills Tabor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Lewis Gratton “L.G.” Daniel, Sr.; sister, Ardeth Vaughn, brothers-in-law, Jimmy Vaughn and Carl Bawgus, sister-in-law, Bonnie Tabor, and nieces, Becky Cowley Plantz and Debbie Vaughn. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Lewis Gratton “Bo” Daniel, Jr. and wife Shelley, and Gregory Paul “Greg” Daniel and wife Kay, all of Naoma; granddaughters, Melody Hope Daniel and husband Mark of Harper, WV, and Ashleigh Nicole Ansted and husband John of Lorton, Virginia; and her only great-granddaughter, Mallory Hope Daniel, a junior at WVU. Also surviving are sisters Phyllis Bawgus of Naoma, WV, Sue (Richard) Cowley of Seng Creek, WV, and brother, Garry Dale Tabor, of Arnett, WV. Ann was of the Christian faith and a member of the Naoma Methodist Church. She was a proud 1950 graduate of Marsh Fork High School. After high school, she attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV, to become a nurse, but changed her major to education, and later earned her master’s degree from West Virginia University in Communications. She taught in the Raleigh County School system, retiring with 31 years of service to students in the Marsh Fork and Clear Fork Districts. Ann was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, recently receiving her fifty-year pin. Ann was always proud of her little family and always looked forward to their Christmas Eve gathering. She enjoyed reading her Bible, playing the piano, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and feeding the birds and squirrels. In Ann’s earlier years, she enjoyed tending to her beautiful roses. It was always a joy for family to hear stories from her years spent in the classroom and the fond memories students would share of her. Funeral services will be conducted at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1 p.m., with the Reverends Opie Workman and Lynn Halstead officiating. Burial will follow at the Milam Family Cemetery in Saxon., WV. Friends may visit with family from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mark Daniel, John Ansted, Jerry Bawgus, Joey Wills, Gary Honaker, and Carl Ray Jarell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Cowley and Tim Vaughn. The family would like to thank the Sundial Church for delivering her meals on Saturdays, and her caregivers Rosie Lively, Patty Williams, and Lori Ash for the kindness and company they gave to her in her last days at home.
