Barbara Hodges Obituary

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Gaye (Dickens) Hodges, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was born to Harrison Reed Dickens and Georgia Mae (Pettry) Dickens on July 3, 1952 in Charleston, WV. She will be welcomed in Heaven by her parents and siblings: sisters, Sugar Painter and Lou Collins; brothers, John Dickens and Dallas Pettry; and infant son, Brian David and granddaughter, Emily Braskey. Barbara was cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. Her loving family include her daughter, Barbara Kay McKinney and husband, Eric; and sons, Dallas Randall Hodges and wife, Carrie; and Christian Layne Herron and wife, Holly. Grandchildren are Mark Braskey and wife, Lindsey, Emma Hodges, Julianna Hodges, Shawn Pennington, Parker Hodges, Caleb McKinney, and Joshua McKinney, and great grandson, Carson Reed Braskey, She is also survived by a brother, Willis Dickens and sisters, Kay Thomas, Joyce Thompson, Wanda Beller, Sandra Cunningham, and Caroline Boulet, and host of nieces and nephews. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and nightly talks with friends, Pam Vickers and Gloria Lengyel. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandson and she will be deeply missed by all. Special thanks are extended to Marinda and Amanda Scarbro, Wanda Beller, Joyce Thompson and Hollie Acord for their unfailing love and kindness throughout Barbara’s life. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
