Beulah Mae Toney Dickens, age 94, of Rock Creek, WV entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on November 23, 2023. Born July 5, 1929 to Laura Anton and Harry Gowman in Mabscott, WV. Beulah was preceded in death by her first husband Elmer Toney and later by husband Ellis Dickens. Also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Toney Hundley, brother Harry “Flathead” Gowman, sister Nellie Kelley, sister Mable Beaulieu, and two infant children, Thermond and Wilma Toney. Beulah retired from Raleigh County Schools, where she had a long career as the cafeteria manager at Mt. View Elementary School. Post retirement, Beulah continued to take pride in being a hard worker, tending to her yard and flowers, working for friends and family, and cooking for church events. She shared her talent for cooking with the church, making huge pans of rolls, chicken and dumplings, and apple stack cakes to share with her church family at Arnett Chapel, where she was a long-time faithful member. Beulah also had a love of fishing and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include a sister, Ruby Hertsch of Baltimore, MD, son Ronald (Martha) Toney of Dayton, TN, and daughter Sherry (Roger) Fraley of Rock Creek, WV. Grandchildren are Chad (April) Toney, Ronn Toney, Wilma (Roger) Toney Schroeder, Brock (Janet) Gunnoe, Toni (Chris) Miller, Roger (Pam) Fraley, Adam (Amanda) Fraley, and Emily (Adam) Fraley Scarbro. Great-grandchildren are Savannah Miller, Christopher Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jenifer Schroeder Drexler, Nick Schroeder, Alexis “Lulu” Toney, Spencer Parker, Caleb Fraley, Kate Fraley, Blake Fraley, Caroline Fraley, Layton Scarbro, Charleigh Scarbro and Ryzer Scarbro. Great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, longtime friend Arbutus Clay and 3 beloved cats (her babies). Services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Arnett Chapel. Pastor Larry Kinder will be officiating. Special singer, Grace Parks. Family may gather at 12:00. Friends can join at 12:30 with the funeral service beginning at 1:30. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery Rock Creek, WV. Armstrong Funeral Home is serving the family.
