Billy Joe (Buck) Pettry, 67, 1/8/58-7/28/25, of Sundial, WV passed away after a series of long illnesses with loved ones by his side. Buck spent about 30 years as a coal miner, the majority of which was at the Peabody #10 mine in Sundial. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wheeling and dealing with his flea market items, and most of all spending time with his family and talking about his Jesus! Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Billy Pettry II (Shawna) of Beckley, Charles Pettry (Mary) of Seth, and Betty Jo Gray of Sundial. Also, twelve grandchildren, Makayla Loftis (Matthew), Caleb (Megan), Makayla Barker (Isaac), Caden (Carolyne), Katelyn, Abigail, Kolton, Cadence, Stella, Brody, Hoss, Mercie and one great-grandchild, Kason. Along with brothers, Kent Pettry (Melissa) of Shady Spring, Wendell Pettry (Dee) of Naoma, and John Pettry (Leslie) of Fairdale and one sister, Tina Williams of Glen Daniel. Those preceding him in death are his loving wife of 47 years, Nanette Pettry, whom he is now reunited with; his parents, Charles and Greta Pettry; a sister, Theresa Scarbro; along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous close friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV at 1 o’clock with Pastor Tobie Hilderbrand officiating. Interment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV. The pallbearers will be: Caden G., Brody G., Hoss G., Kolton P., Isaac B., Aaron P., Cameron G., and Brandon G. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the funeral home.
