Bobby (Bob) J Price

Bobby (Bob) J. Price of Sylvester, WV, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the age of 91. Bob was born on December 27, 1932, in Clay County, WV to John Emerson and Ethel (Kincaid) Price. Bob attended Clay County schools and served 2 years (1951-1953) in the US Army as a military policeman.  Upon completion of service, he settled in Whitesville, WV and began working at Armstrong Funeral Home.  This is where he met his future wife, Georgia Arvon, while she delivered flowers to the funeral home. Bob also served as Whitesville City Policeman, Deputy Sheriff for the Boone County Sheriff’s Department before entering the mines in 1972.  He was a member of the UMWA until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Sylvester Baptist Church where he was baptized along with his wife Georgia on October 26, 1969.

Bob enjoyed hunting & fishing, and spending time at his Roane County camp with family (The Crew). Bob spent as much time possible watching his grandsons (Brad and Eric) play ball through the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia A. Price, and siblings, Lenord Price, Claude Price, & Alice Marie Legg. Bob is survived by son David (Pam) of South Charleston; grandsons Brad (Danielle) Price, Morgantown, and Eric (Jill) Price Liberty Township, Ohio. He was blessed with 4 great grandchildren. Deacon, Clay, Ellie and Connor Price.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 12:00 o’clock noon in the Sylvester Baptist Church Sylvester, WV  with Pastor’s Tim Dillon and David Minturn officiating. Interment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV. The visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 6 to 8 at the church and one hour before the service.
