Carrie Lou Jarrell, 75, of Sylvester, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday November 2, 2020 at Hospice in South Charleston after a extended illness. She was born December 9, 1944 in Leevale, WV daughter of the late Kathleen Gogus and Franklin Leslie Platt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil D. Jarrell and brother, Charles C. Platt. Carrie Lou had an impact on the lives of those she met. Family was most important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, mawmaw, aunt, and friend, she loved line dancing, genealogy, fishing, cooking, and family gatherings and helping her community. She was a member of the Sylvester Baptist Church and was a member of the Sylvester Line Dancing Crew. She orchestrated the Sylvester Dog Patch Reunion. Carrie Lou is survived by her son, Leslie L. Jarrell “Lori”; brothers, David L. Platt, “Tina”, James F. Platt “Nancy”, sister-in-law, Gail Platt, one grandchild, Samuel Z. Jarrell; 10 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; four great-great nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon November 14, 2020 at two o’clock In the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV. Entombment will follow in Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV A visitation will begin 2 hours before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice Care.
