Danny Floyd Martin

Danny Floyd Martin Sr, 73 of Charleston WV went home to be with his Dad (Red Martin) and his mom Kat (Kathleen Martin) at Hospice Care in CAMC in Charleston WV from a long illness. Danny was preceded in death by his Dad Floyd E “Red” Martin, his Mom Kathleen “Kat” Martin and Stepson James “Gondi” Smith. He is survived by his brother Bob Martin and his wife Jeanie of Cross Lanes. Sons Danny Floyd Martin Jr and wife Jennifer, James Dewayne Martin and wife Tammy, David Earl Martin and wife Carmela. Stepdaughters Lynn Maloskey and Husband Ronnie, and Jennifer Smith. Niece: Robin Cooper Grandsons: Calob Martin, Logan Martin, Michael Cassidy, Andy Martin, Connor Martin, Justin Maloskey and Eric Maloskey. Granddaughters: Cheyenne Martin, Savannah Martin, Megan Maloskey and Amber Carte. Danny was born August 19, 1949 and raised in Whitesville WV.  Danny was a Disabled Veteran and served in the Vietnam War as a supply Sergeant.  He followed his dad’s footsteps and joined the Army on November 20, 1967. He served a little under 9 years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, 2 Overseas service Bars, Marksman(M-16), Good Conduct Medal (2 award), Drivers Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. After the Army, Danny served the community with the Boone County Ambulance Authority, Racine Vol Fire Dept and Whitesville Ambulance and Fire Dept. He worked in the medical field for 30 plus years before he finally retired. Danny really enjoyed his time with his dad Red working on his Carnival rides.  They would put on little Carnivals for the town of Whitesville and the kids in the Coal camp. Danny enjoyed his 4-wheeler riding trips with his dad and kids when they would get together.  The grandkids loved their trips to see Grandpa Danny and Great Grandpa Red and enjoy the rides.  Danny loved being with friends and family, reminiscing about old times, telling stories, and having a few cold drinks.  He will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV at 1:00 p.m. with Mike Browning speaking. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 5578 Madison, WV. The visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 and Wed. one hour before the service.
