Denna Rae (Akers) Persinger

Denna Rae Persinger, 66, was joyfully reunited with the love of her life, Randy, in Heaven on July 8, 2022. Denna was born July 6, 1956, to David and Jackie Akers of Ameagle, WV. She graduated from Clear Fork High School, where she began her career as a secretary for the Raleigh County school system. This was a career she loved, in which she met many lifelong friends. In 1975, Denna went on a first date with a guy named Randy, who told her that she would be his wife one day. She thought he might be crazy but gave him a shot. Three months later, they were married. They spent the next 41 years living their happily ever after. Their life together was a true love story. They had three daughters together. Denna was the type of mother that never missed a single PTO meeting, school party, ceremony, or game. She was the overprotective mom, the “because I said so” mom, the loving mom, the perfect mom. Before Randy passed, they had the opportunity to meet his son, and she welcomed him into the family as her own. When her grandchildren came along, they were the light of her life. Although her joy was in her grandkids, she enjoyed online shopping, cutting up with her best friend Melody, and watching her soaps. Denna’s favorite pastime was connecting with friends and family through Facebook and interacting with their lives.  After Randy passed away in 2017, Denna never really could move on. She longed for the day that she would see him again. In addition to her husband Randy, she was preceded in death by her parents, Roy David, and Jacqueline Akers. Those left to cherish her memory and await their reunion with her are her children, Sean Johnson (Kristine) of Fraser, MI, April Cantley (Frank Pettry) of Ameagle, WV, Jada Reeves (Jeremy), and “Her Baby” Shaela Parks (Curtis), all of Beckley, WV. Her grandchildren: Taylor Johnson, Jacob and Kaylee Reeves, Audrey and Dana Cantley, Mason Williams, and Beau Parks. Her brother Mike Akers (Barbara) of Beckley, WV, her lifelong best friend, Melody Williams, and Jim and Eleanor White and family, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the Estep Cemetery Ameagle, WV with Rev. Gary Williams officiating.
