Derek Scott Gilfilen, 44, of Dry Creek, WV passed away on April 6, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital. He was born May 21, 1979 in Beckley, WV to the late Dale and Sandra McCormick Gilfilen. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby sister, Stacy Lee Gilfilen. Derek enjoyed riding Harley Davison’s and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his brother, Brandon Gilfilen and Lesli; three nieces, Richelle Scarbro, Serenity Gilfilen and Harley Gilfilen. Derek is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, April 12, 2024 at one o’clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV with Pastor Benny Turner officiating. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery Rock Creek, WV. Pallbearers will include: Brandon Gilfilen, Steve Gilfilen, Nate Gilfilen, Jeff Tucker, Michael Dickens, and Jake Honaker. Derek was always smiling and tried to make everyone happy.
