Douglas Wendell Hill

Douglas Wendell Hill, 71 of Bloomingrose passed away at Home on April 23rd, 2025. He was the Son of Johnny and Rosalie Hill of Seth, WV. Douglas was born the oldest of 3 loved brothers and a sister on February 8th, 1954. In December of 1973, he Married the love of his life Brenda Sue Hill that took his heart along with her when she preceded in death in 2016. Douglas and Brenda raised 2 children, George Hill, with his Loving Wife Laura of Hugheston, WV and Rusty Hill of Glen Morgan, WV. Doug was a retired Continuous Miner Operator at the Big Mountain #16 mine in Prenter, WV where he was a Proud Member of UMWA Local 6426. Doug loved his coworkers like family and felt just as at home underground. He was a skilled operator, making his cuts look like a work of art. In addition to mining, he loved wade fishing the streams of West Virginia, catching small mouth bass or what ever would bite and being an all-around handy man. He often answered the phone to help when others that would get stuck on a project or mechanical predicament offering tools and assistance.   In addition to his children, he leaves behind 6 Grandchildren that include Clinton Hill and wife Ashley of Peytona WV, Madilyn Hill and James of Charleston WV, Joshua Sullivan and Baily of Hugheston WV, Brittany and Husband CJ Sizemore of Mt. Carbon, Jayden Sullivan of Hugheston WV, and Mariah Sullivan of Cleveland OH. Great Grandchildren are Ina and Mary Hill of Peytona WV and Selwyn and Lillian Sizemore of Mt. Carbon WV. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV with Rev. Phil Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service.The Family would like to give a special thanks to all of his doctors and staff of Kanawha Hospice of Charleston WV.
