Elmer Dale Gilfilen, 71, of Rock Creek, WV died October 4, 2020 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born October 7, 1948 at Pine Knob, WV a son of the late Arnold and Gladys Opal Morris Gilfilen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Gilfilen, who passed away June 2, 2018; a daughter, Stacy Lee and three sibling, Ernie, Ann and Claude ”Hammer”. He a member of the Masonic Lodge AFAM Boone #162, Whitesville, also The York Rites and Shriners. Dale was a US Army Veteran having received two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969 where he rose the rank of Army Staff Sergeant in only two years. He is survived by two sons, Brandon Gilfilen and Derek Gilfilen; grandchildren, Richelle, Serenity, and Harley; great grandson, Brantlee; two sisters, Ruth Tucker and husband, Terry, Linda Lively and husband, Lee and one brother, Rev. Danny Gilfilen and wife, Becky; mother-in-law, Geneva Lovely McCormick; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 10, 2020 at 1:00 in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV with Rev. Benny Turner officiating.
