Elois Jean Maynor Duncan, 90 years old, of Dorothy, WV passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at home following a long illness. Jean was born December 16, 1933 at Artie, WV to Londa and Edith Maynor who precede her in death. On November 8, 1949, Jean married Willie Duncan who also preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are siblings: Guthrie Maynor and Charlotte Dugan, son-in-law: Ralph Williams, and daughter-in-law: Brenda Duncan. Jean was a hairdresser for many years until arthritis kept her from doing what she loved. She was a faithful member of Pentecostal Freedom Church. She enjoyed her family coming home each weekend for Sunday dinner. Survivors include her children: Gerald Duncan (Sharon) of Shady Spring, Darrell Duncan of Whitesville, Debra Williams of Dorothy, Glenn Duncan (Kathy) of Colcord, and Mike Duncan (Kellie) of Daniels. Grandchildren: Missey Breeden (James), Brian Williams (Angie), Dewayne Duncan (Andy), Chris Duncan (Renee), Wesley Duncan (Sara), Rodney Duncan (Leslie), Nichole Howell (Allen), Daniel Duncan (Jessica), Taylor Duncan and Todd Duncan. Great Grandchildren: Duncan Breeden, Hunter Breeden, Makena Williams, Canon Williams, Preslee Williams, Caleb Duncan, Breiel Duncan, Sydney Pugh (Josh), Skylar Duncan, Brennan Duncan, Braden Howell, Maddie Howell, Layla Ayers (Dylan) , and Kobe Duncan. She was expecting a great-great granddaughter in March (Noa Lee Ayers). Siblings: Kelsey Maynor (Mary Jo), Ileata Bailey, Lynn Maynor (Carol), Ramona McElaney, and Gary Maynor (Louise). The family would like to thank Dr. Andy Tanner and Dr. Courtney Beasley for their wonderful care they have provided throughout the years. Mom’s testimony that she lived daily: Proverbs 22:1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver or gold. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 12:00 noon o’clock in Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV; Visitation will begin one hour before the service with Pastor’s Floyd Bolen & Jeff Shea & Gary Maynor officiating. Singing will be Stewart Family. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV.
