On Wednesday July 17th, 2024, Gerald “Jerry” Kidd was called home following a short illness and is finally reunited with his first wife Kay and after 30 long years his son Eric. Jerry was born November 27,1948 in Charleston WV to the late Virl and Edith Kidd. After Jerry graduated from Sherman High School in 1967, he joined the Marine Corp from 1968-1970 and did one tour in Vietnam. He was very proud and loved being a Marine. In 1970 he married his late wife, Kay Kidd. They were married for 48 years and had 2 sons, Eric and Shawn and a daughter Carrie. Jerry retired from Rocklick Prep Plant after working many years in the coal mines and was a proud member of UMWA. He loved attending church and playing bass in church whenever and wherever possible. On Valentine’s Day 2021 Jerry married Rita (Howell) Kidd in Arnett Chapel. Jerry is proceeded in death by Kay (Sarrett) Kidd, son Eric Kidd, parents Virl and Edith Kidd, brother Dallas Kidd, sister Aileen Morton, brother George Kidd, brother Stephen Kidd, brother Robert Kidd, brother Harry Kidd. Jerry is survived by his wife Rita (Howell) Kidd, son Shawn (Cheri) Kidd, daughter Carrie Kidd, granddaughter Kayla (Gatlin) Goodson, grandson Eric Landen Kidd, grandson Fred Corpening, great grandson Lucas, great granddaughter Nevaeh, very special sister Betty Weeks, nephews Greg (Sherry) Williamson, Kemper (Susan) Morton, nieces Patty Parsley, Jackie (Rusty) Sewell, Laura Weeks and several more nephews, nieces, cousins and many very close friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Arnett Chapel Arnett, WV with Pastor Larry Kinder officiating. Interment will follow in the Sarrett Family Cemetery Arnett, WV. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service. We want to give a special thank you to Jr and Joyce Gunnoe and Carol and Edsel Dickens, Chuck Brown and William Brown, who are more like family than friends. They went above and beyond more than anyone can imagine, and we can never thank them enough. Jerry loved you all beyond words and we will forever be grateful for your kindness and selfless acts.
