Harry Lafferty Obituary

Harry Nelson Lafferty, 88, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 25, 2021after a short illness. He was the son of the late Anthony and Inas Belcher Lafferty. Harry was born in 1933 in Wyoming County and lived there his entire life. Harry worked for the Lord all his life and God came first in his life, then family. He was an excellent dad and husband. He was a minister for a number of years and Pastored The Community Church in Glen Rogers, WV. He was a musician and traveled all over. His group was called, Harry and the Gospel Travelers. Harry worked at many different jobs but worked for Ranger Fuel Coal Co. before retiring at 55. After retiring he worked for Council on Aging in Itmam, WV. Harry was an Army Veteran with the 101st Airborn, he served during the Korean War. Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Onva Canterbury; brothers, Donald Lafferty and Franklin Lafferty and one sister, Joan Lafferty. Those left to cherish his memory his wife, Nancy Dickens Lafferty; one daughter, Kathy Lafferty Whitlock of Parkersburg, WV; one granddaughter, Samantha Tolliver Couch; two great grandchildren, Caroline and Beau Couch; a stepdaughter, Marlene Dockery; one stepson, Brian Burkhammer; one brother, Eugene Lafferty and wife, Bonnie and a host of family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Thursday afternoon December 30, 2021, at one o’clock In the Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Matheny, WV with Rev. Danny Gilfilen and Rev. Benny Turner officiating. Interment Palm Memorial Gardens Matheny, WV with military graveside rites by VFW Wyoming County, WV. The visitation will one hour before the service In the Mausoleum.
