Harry James "Jimmy" Raynes

Harry James “Jimmy” Raynes, 63, of Ameagle, WV passed away, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his home. He was born on Oct. 20, 1958 in Beckley, WV to Walter and Betty Raynes. He was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Clear Fork High School with the class of 1976. He was employed by the Railroad, Graybeal Ford and Massengil Construction. Jimmy was well known for his love of racing and being the community mechanic. You could find him at Beckley Motor Speedway many nights, whether he was racing or being crew chief. In recent years you could see his eyes gleaming with pride while watching his own nephews, Jesse, Patrick and Harley follow in his footsteps carrying on a family tradition. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Walter Raynes, a brother, Jeffery Scott Raynes, and a nephew, Noah Brown. Jimmy leaves behind his Mother, Betty Raynes, three sisters, Helen Hill (Mike) of Clear Creek, WV, Cindy Vaughn (Steve) of Abingdon, VA and Connie Brown (Robbie) of Colcord, WV and one brother, Dewey Raynes (Melinda) of Clear Creek, WV, special friends, Charlie Dunbar, Michael Smith and Roger Holstein, many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him. Jimmy’s final race is over, he took the checkered flag! We’ll see you in the “Winners Circle”. In honor of Jimmy please feel free to wear your racing gear or favorite fan shirt. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV with Pastor Robert Brown. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
