Hubert Ray Morris

Hubert Ray Morris, age 67, of Rock Creek died on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Bowers Hospice House of Beckley after a battle with ALS. He was born in Montgomery, WV on October 6, 1957 to Hubert and Betty Morris.He was a 1975 graduate of Sherman High School, a coal miner for 35 years having worked for Armco, Peabody and PineRidge Coal Company. He was a proud member of the UMWA and was also a member of the Whitesville Presbyterian Church. He always enjoyed being outside with his wife, cutting grass and spending time with his family, especially his son Steven and cherished grandson Harrison. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda Kay, a brother Paul “Freddie” Morris, a sister Dorothy Coffey and in-laws Lantie and Betty Jarrell.He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Paula Jarrell Morris and his beloved son Steven Ray Morris (Joyce) and the love of his life, grandson Harrison Morris and one sister Mary Moore (Curtis). He is also survived by brothers-in-law Randy, Bob, and Bill Jarrell, and a sister-in-law Ada Morris, special brothers-in-law, Jeff Jarrell and Curtis Moore, special niece Melissa Myers (Tom), nephew Paul Morris (Rita) and niece Paula Flake (Burnie) and many loving cousins. In addition, he is survived by special friends Doug Smith and Terry and Ruth Tucker. Funeral services will be conducted at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 3:00 with Ricky Peters officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 to 3:00. Burial will follow at the Miller Cemetery in Rock Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bowers Hospice House of Beckley WV.
