James H. Brown “Jim” 86, of Holly Hills departed this life on Feb. 8, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Born at Shumate Branch / Edwight, WV on April 15, 1938, to Ben and Verlie Brown. Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gertrude (Robert) Jarrell, Wannie (Bernice) Brown, Ruth (Jack) Massey, Jack Brown, Loretta (Jack) Perry, Ted Brown, Pebble (Jim) Pfost, Son, Jimmy (Amy) Brown, son-in-law, Raymond Jarrell Jr. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lavina Brown; children, Kim Jarrell, Jerry (Alice) Brown, John (Leah) Brown; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Molly; sister-in-law, Mui Brown, brother-in-law, Chris Workman and a host of nieces and nephews. He was Veteran having spent eight years in the US Army and 30 years of service in the Coal Industry. Jim was a deacon at Marsh Fork Presbyterian Church at Dry Creek, WV. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, at eleven o’clock a.m. in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV with Jerry and John Brown officiating; Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 9 at funeral home; Pallbearers include: Carl Jarrell, Meechie Brown, Michael Brown, Nick Robbins, Nathan Gordon, Jody Belcher, Honorary Pallbearer, Ben Brown. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek, WV.
