James Eugene Lemon “Peanut”

James E. Lemon, known as “Peanut”, died April 18, 2024 at his home in Willow Springs, NC at the age of 71. He was born in Beckley, WV on October 21, 1952 to Andrew Virgil Lemon and Mae Ruth Cook Lemon. James graduated from Marsh Fork High School and briefly attended college before starting his career as a coal miner throughout various states. In 2012 he married the true love of his life Shirley Long. They faithfully attended several churches. James also enjoyed fishing with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings: Nadine Brown, Charles Cook, Sandra Grimm, Naomi Keenen, Billy Lemon, Bobby Lemon, David Lemon, Jimmy Lemon and June Skeens. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Long Lemon; his children, James Scott Lemon (Robin Jarrell), Brian Lemon (Amanda), Chrissy Lemon, Chase Champion (Olivia), and six grandchildren: Jamie Barker, Annabell Lemon, Hailey Lemon, Josh Vanvaulkenburgh, Mariah Keffer and Ana Champion. Services will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 11:00am- 2:00pm at Flat Branch Church, Arnett, WV. The officiant will be Rev. Benny Cozart, and speaking will be Pastor Brian White and Pastor Nathon Redinger. Interment will be at the Lemon Cemetery in Arnett, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
