Janet Lynn Bongalis Nesmith, 74, of Naoma, died suddenly on August 5, 2024. Janet was born on February 13, 1950, to James and Gladys Bongalis. She resided in Naoma all of her life, growing up at the family home on the hill, before moving nearby in Horse Creek after she got married. Janet devoted her life to taking care of her husband and raising their three girls, and then later helping with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, she would spend hours working jigsaw puzzles, she was often seen carrying her sewing bag to work on her cross stitch in her free time. And she loved spending evenings playing cards with her husband, Dian, and Nick. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rodney Nesmith and her daughters, Roberta Hendricks of Christiansburg, VA, Nicole Nesmith of Charleston, WV, and Jessica (Joey) Booth of Dry Creek, WV. Her grandchildren, Kaleb (Haley), Kory (Hannah), and Kyle (Sheridan)Hendricks, Harley Manuel, Kaylee and Kolton Ferrell, and Joseph Booth. Her sisters Betty Raynes, Sherry (Leon) Hager, Linda (Charlie) Cabell, and Victoria Bowman and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Nick, Johnny and Billy, and her sisters Mary, Grace, Deanna, Polly, and Brenda. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 in Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1-3pm, with interment following at the Nesmith Family Cemetery in Horse Creek. Services will be led by Minister Lynn Halstead.
