Jerry W Baird

In Loving Memory of Jerry W. Baird (75), who went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 after fighting several tough illnesses over the past few years. He was born on February 14, 1948 in Beckley WV to Louise (Clower) Baird and Henry C. Baird. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Diane (Moran) Baird and his loving daughter, Meridith Lombardi and husband Paulie of Orgas, WV. Jerry served four years in the United States Air Force, where he was deployed one year to Korea. In addition, Jerry was certified as a Master Electrician, a heavy equipment mechanic for several surface mines over the span of 25 years, retired from Arch Coal, was the owner of Sylvester Auto Care in the early 90's and Coal River Heating & Cooling in Seth, WV. At one point, he was also the Service Manager at Daniel Chevrolet. Jerry made many friends over the years and never met a stranger. Jerry was the love of Diane's life; undoubtedly, she will forever be thankful to God for all the years they had together. Jerry had three sisters: Penny Sadler (deceased), Barbara Phegley and Dorothy (Sissy) Jones of Virginia. In addition, he was blessed with a second mother, Joy Moran (deceased); a second father, Ralph Moran of Sylvester, WV and a brother-in-law, Roger Moran (deceased). Jerry had several nieces and nephews and numerous friends who loved him dearly. There will be a Memorial Service in celebration of his life on Saturday, March 25 at 7:00 pm at Sylvester Baptist Church in Sylvester, WV with Reverend Gary Daniels officiating. Armstrong Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
