When you hear someone say “the glue of the family” Joann was truly the GLUE that held her family together. A lady of many names. JoAnn, MaMa Jo, Ruby, Josie, Mom, Nanny, MaMaw Ruby, Gram. Joann 88 of Sandlick formerly of Dorothy passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Albert & Harriett Ferrell. Joann was 1 of 6 Gordon Ferrell of Wisconsin, Jimmy (Mary) Ferrell of Ohio Shelby Robbins deceased Janet Howard deceased Ray Ferrell Jr deceased She was the wife of late William (Billy) Karantonis She is also proceeded in death by sister n law Della Ferrell, Brothers n law Charles Howard & Jim Robbins Son in law Kevin Cooper Grandson Corbin Wilson Joann is survived by her 3 loving biological children. However, many people considered Joann their surrogate mother. Sonya (Richie) Cooper Small, Pam (Jerry) Vines, Steve (Michelle) McGraw 13 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren,3 Great Great Grandchildren 4 nieces & nephews & numerous great/great nieces & nephews. She would proudly boast about all her family & loved more than anything having everyone together. Her roots were planted early in life at Dorothy Assembly of God. She loved that Church & the people there. She moved from Dorothy in 2012, but it always held a special place in her heart. The family would like to extend a Thank you to her caregivers Linda, Danese, Mary, Rita, Lora, Sandy & thanks to Hospice. A very special thank you to Sandra Stack & Staci Isaacs. Grandsons & Grandson in laws will serve as pallbearers. Family is being served by Armstrong funeral home Service will be Friday 11:00am & funeral 12:00. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Joann’s brother Chaplain Jimmy Ferrell will be officiating along with her nephew Doug Ferrell.
