John Thomas Scarbro

John Thomas Scarbro, 82, of Fairdale, WV went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 23rd with his sons by his side at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. He was born February 28, 1939 in Rock Creek, WV. He served his country proudly in the United States Army for 21 years and fought in Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army, he went to work at Beckley Coal and then on to be a prison guard in North Carolina. He retired from the VA Hospital where he worked with the DAV, where he enjoyed being in service to his fellow soldiers. He was preceded in death by his parents Tracy and Pearl Scarbro. His wife of 52 years, Electa Frances Scarbro and his son Michael Thomas Scarbro. Those who are here to carry on his memory is two sons, John (Marsha) Scarbro of Dry Creek and Jeff (Shelley) Scarbro of Glen Daniels. One sister, Margaret Bufferine of Cleveland, OH. One brother Robert (Ruth) Scarbro of Cleveland, OH. Six grandchildren: Chad Scarbro of Oakland, CA. Petty Officer, Zachary (Hollie) Scarbro of Lexington, KY. Hannah Scarbro of Glen Daniel, WV. Autumn (Trevor) McGhee of Lester, WV. Abby (Zachary) Honaker of Fairdale, WV. Dalton (Dakota) Scarbro of Fairdale, WV. Two great grandchildren Adelaide Scarbro and Avery Honaker. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Services will be Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at 1:00 in the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV with son the Rev. John Scarbro officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery with Military Honors.  Pallbearers will be: Chad Scarbro, Dalton Scarbro, Zachary Scarbro, Mike Lilly, Trevor McGhee and Zachary Honaker. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service
