Judy Dickens Obituary

Judy Karen Workman (Holsinger) Dickens, 71, of Rock Creek, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on the morning of January 27, 2025. Judy was born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 21, 1953 to the late Robert Harl Workman and Ethel Workman (nee Canterbury). She was part of the 1972 graduating class of Marsh Fork High School in Montcoal, West Virginia. For many years until she was disabled, Judy held employment as a caregiver for an untold number at several nursing home facilities.  Everyone knew of two things when they thought of Judy: her faith and undying love for the Lord, and of her kindness. Judy was a welcoming friend and mother figure to everyone she encountered. Judy gave all she could to help, even if that was just her prayers. Judy enjoyed many hobbies while she was able such as fishing and visiting with friends and family. She also enjoyed watching game shows, professional and college ball games, as well as Liberty High School ball games. Judy loved dearly to sing with her sisters for many years at local church functions and private homes. Judy is proceeded in death by her parents, her first husband Bill Holsinger, a brother, Johnny Workman and his wife Judy Ann, an infant sister Linda Faye Workman, and an infant great grandson, Matthew. Judy is survived by and will be fondly remembered always by her husband David Dickens. Her sons Corey Holsinger, Billy Joe Holsinger (Karen May – deceased), David Dickens, Jr., and Harrison Dickens (Cindy).  Her daughters Savannah Wills (Jeffrey), Susan Rogers (David – deceased), and Samantha Bell (Jeff). Judy’s surviving siblings include Danny Workman (Berniece – deceased), Alan Workman (Sherry), Peggy Scarbro (Richard), Rose Watts (Jerry), and Helen Foster (Steve). Judy’s grandchildren include Sarah, Keelie, Tessa, Elaina, Brooklyn, Kyra, Destany, Alexis, Junior Lee, Zack, Liam, Adian, Axel, Grayson, and Olivia with more coming all the time. There are countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that are also left to cherish her memory. She loved and prayed for each one of you. The family would also like to extend many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Caleb Workman and Dr. Sachdeva for the unwavering medical care they provided to our mother, as well as two special caregivers and friends Alva and Laura. Rest assured that Judy has made it home and will be waiting in her heavenly reward for all of us. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2:00 in the Rock Creek Community Church with Pastor Donnie Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Scarbro Cemetery Rock Creek, WV. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service.
