Karen Susie (Perdue) Smith

Karen “Susie” Perdue Smith was born December 27, 1944 to her late parents, John W. Perdue and Ruth Virginia Hamrick Perdue.  She went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2024. In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia Ann Smith Darby and Rebecca Sue Smith Halstead; great granddaughter, Isabella Krepps; and brothers, Benjamin, James, Claude, Opie, Charles and Clarkie Perdue. Susie leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Alfred Smith SR; her daughter, Missie Jo Short (Roger) of Cabin Creek, WV; her sons, Alfred (JR) Smith JR. of Elko, Nevada, and Roger (Crystal) Smith, of Hiddenite, NC; Terry Roop (Son in law); Lockie Aliff (spiritual daughter); brother, Johnny Perdue; sister Brenda (Ray) Thomas; grandchildren, Kathie Darby, Shawn Halstead, Jamie Darby, Brandy Krepps, Justin Smith, Ashley White, Brandon Smith,  Briar Venoy, Katilyn Halstead, Autum Smith, Destiny Sirbaugh, Annika Roop, Annissa Roop; a host of great grandchildren; special friends, Brenda Cavendar, Stacie Cavendar, Gabby Israel and Chloe Workman; and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Susie was a member of Sylvester Full Gospel Lighthouse and attended Seth Church of God.  She loved her family and left a testimony that she was ready to go be with her Savior, Jesus.  Susie would want you to know that her work here is done.  She received a call for an appointment from which she will not be returning.  The assignment comes with a welcome to her brand new home and reunions with family and friends gone on before and she’d want you to make preparations to meet her there one day. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV; Visitation will be 2 hours before the service with Rev. Troy Campbell officiating & singing Junior Perdue & Kandas Cope. Susie’s request for was cremation following the service.
