Larry Holstein Jr. Obituary

Larry "Crocky" Holstein Jr. Larry Allen Holstein Jr. affectionately known as Crocky, 54 of Dorothy, WV was called home to his final duty station unexpectedly on October 28, 2021. Crocky was born January 11, 1967 in Charleston, WV to the late Larry A. Holstein Sr. and the late Elizabeth Ann Holstein. He was a 1985 graduate of Clear Fork High School where he enjoyed playing football and hanging out with friends. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his 4 years of service, he served defending our freedom in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield. After an Honorable discharge from the Corps, he became a father to two amazing boys Jonathan Trent and Chase Ryan. Being a father was one of his greatest joys in life and he was always so proud of the boys he has raised. He started his civilian career working at various trucking companies and finally found a place h coul9 call home at Marfork Coal Company, where he was employed as a heavy equipment transport driver and a mobile equipment operator. While working at Marfork he made many friends that became more like a family to him. Friends that he could call brothers. Crocky was preceded in death by his grandfather- John Fannin, grandmother- Goldie Fannin, his mother Elizabeth Ann Holstein, his father Larry A. Holstein Sr., and his nephew Dylan Jones. Those left to cherish his memory is the loving mother of his two sons Chrissy, son Jonathan Cantley and wife Samantha of Dry Creek, WV, son PFC Chase Cantley of Cherry Point, NC, two brothers, Gregory "Johnboy" Holstein and wife Heather of Beckley, WV, Jerrard Holstein and wife Jessica of Dorothy, WV, nephew, Chris Stevens and wife Ranee of Rock Creek, WV, niece Kate Hatfield of Beckley, WV, 3 great nephews, Nicholai Stevens, Sawyer Abrams, and Grayson Abrams, one great niece, Annistyn Stevens, his four-legged furry companion Sage, and many other friends and family. Crocky was a devoted family man, he was especially devoted to his granddaughter Eleanor and his nephew Jaxon, both of whom called him Poppy. In their little eyes, no one could hold a candle to their Poppy. Poppy was their best friend and to Crocky, the word NO never existed when it came to these two sweet babies. At ease Marine, it is time for you to take your place at your final duty station .... No Goodbyes, Just See You Later- Semper Fi. The family would like to thank the Marfork Environmental Crew, Mark Cooper, Marfork Safety Department, Whitesville EMS, and JanCare EMS for the lifesaving efforts they provided during this difficult time.
