Our precious mommy, Linda Lou Protan Anderson, 72, of Swansea, SC, formerly of Fosterville, WV, went on to her heavenly home on September 7th, 2023, after a nine year battle with breast cancer. Mom was born on April 10th, 1951, the eldest child to her parents, Sam & Erma Lou Protan. Mom was a 1969 graduate of Sherman High School. She attended Morris Harvey and WV State College where she received her undergraduate (1983) and masters (1991) degrees in education. Mom spent 30 years teaching secondary history in Boone County, WV and Lexington County, SC. Mom loved teaching American history and truly loved her country. Mom is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Gerald Anderson of Swansea, SC. Daughters, Lara Byrnside and Misty (David) Owens; son, Larry “Bruh” (Lara Dykes) Sebok, II. Mom was “Nanny” to her six grandchildren, Grant & Hudson Sebok; Madeline Byrnside; and AnaClaire, Carrington, and Lucy Owens. All of which she loved more than anything. She is also survived by three sisters, Brenda (George) Viars, Patti Nelson and Peggy (John) Chapman. Nieces/nephews, Jason (Cassie) Hudson, Jennifer Anderson, Bre Chapman, Ricky Paul (Alaina) Nelson, Casey (Heather) Chapman, Sam Protan (Kathleen) Chapman, Katelyn (Ryan) Mullaney; sixteen great nieces/nephews that she adored; first cousins Rick Hudson, Connie Protan Cantley, Nancy Hawkins and one aunt, Jerri Hudson Howell. Mommy had several lifelong friends (Judy, Louise, Debbie & Rosemary) that she cherished. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers-in-law JC Hudson, Jr., Ricky Nelson, and mother-in-law Edna Anderson. Our mom was a force to be reckoned with. She believed in working hard and she did hard things her entire life. She loved all things Christmas, spending time with her sisters & family at the beach and planting flowers. Our mom may be the only person who thought New Year’s Day could fall on the 6th of January and hated all the stoplights on interstate 77 while driving through Charlotte. We love the laughter that came from her telling on herself. Mom made everyone around her feel special and loved. She gave back to those in need, and worried about other patients in the hospital while she was a patient herself. Our mom believed that love, family and the Democratic Party was everything. Visitation will be on Monday, September 11th, 2023 from 6pm-8pm at the Sylvester Missionary Baptist Church, Sylvester, WV. The funeral will be at the church at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023, burial to follow at Pineview Cemetery. Remembrances may be given to the American Cancer Society - Hope Lodge, Carol Grotnes Belk Campus, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC. 29401 or cancer charity of your choice.
