Marilyn Dell Stover of Dorothy WV passed away on Sunday June 8th, 2025, at “Martha Jefferson Hospital” in Charlottesville, VA. She had been living with her daughter Lavetta Thomasson in Palmyra, Virginia. Marilyn was an amazing person. She dedicated herself to God & her family. She loved to grow flowers. She was a wonderful cook & baker. She made so many cakes for her grandchildren. They looked like they came from a bakery. She really enjoyed traveling to see family and new places. She took amazing care of her husband Elden for many years when he dealt with health issues and dementia. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Lavetta Thomasson (Mark) Of Palmyra, Virginia, Elden Stover Jr (Jerrilyn) of Lakeland, Florida, and Robert Stover (Ann) of Youngsville, NC; 1 sister: Margarette Gatchell (Tom) Of Prescott, Arizona. She had nine grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elden Stover. She was also proceeded in death by her daughter, Marlena Halstead. She was a member of Pentecostal Freedom Church in Colcord, West Virginia for many years. The visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Pentecostal Freedom Church 7496 Clear Fork Rd., Colcord, WV 25048. The visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM and the funeral service will begin at 3pm with Pastor Jeff Shea officiating and Duke Stuart and his family will be singing. A short graveside service will follow at the Estep cemetery behind the church.
