Micah “Mickey” Petry passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022 at Oak Hill Place, Oak Hill WV just 10 days shy of his 94th birthday. Micah was born December 23, 1928 in Logan County, West Virginia. He was the last surviving child of Charles and Effie Petry. Micah grew up in WV and Kentucky, and enlisted in the US Army in 1950 serving in the Korean War. Upon leaving the Army he settled in Columbus Ohio where he worked as a machinist for Midland Ross/Janitrol until his retirement. Micah was an avid bowler and a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan. In addition to his parents and siblings Micah was preceded in death by his first wife Rita Petry, his second wife Virginia Bradley Petry and his stepdaughter Debra Safford. Micah is survived by his daughter Sandy (Charlie) Bailey of Columbus Ohio and his son Dennis (Mary) Petry of Aston PA, his step-son and caregiver Ron Bradley and his wife Carole of Dry Creek WV. Grandchildren Dennis Petry Jr., Lisa Petry, Marc Petry, Nick (Aylin) Bradley, Kim (Garrett) Ballengee, Kelsey Bradley, Paul Bradley, Brian Safford, Amber Safford, Kyle Safford, Amanda (Bryan) Ivery, and Charles Bailey. Great grandchildren Cameran, Harlan Micah, Neil, Talia, Aubree, Charlotte, Alexis, Cameron, Carina, Carma, Kylie, Ashleyanna and Kinsley. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as his friends and caregivers at Oak Hill Place where he resided for the last 7 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at 1:00 in Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville WV with Pastor Scott Lester officiating and music by Trinity. Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas WV. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
