Norma Jean Pettry, 79, of Dry Creek, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15th at Stonerise in Beckley, WV after a short illness. She was born in Cowen, WV on April 14, 1942, and was the daughter of Ferrell and Ruth Postlewaite. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Eugene Pettry, brothers Ralph and Larry Postlewaite and stepson Bill Pettry. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Brenda Murray of Sanford, NC and Katrina (Mark) Aliff of Rock Creek, WV; and sister Patti Hetrick of Akron, OH. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Garrett and Madison Aliff, Lacey Gillespie, Tiffany Daggs, Billy Pettry, Jerry and Jessica Moore; four great grandchildren, David Pettry-Mason, Samuel Gillespie, Cora and Kai Ann Pettry; sister-in-law Debbie Postlewaite; and many nieces and nephews. Norma graduated from Ellet High School in Akron, OH and then from cosmetology school to become a licensed beautician. She soon married the love of her life and lived for a short time in Akron before moving to Dry Creek, WV with her family. Norma retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education in 2007 after 20 years of service as a cook. She enjoyed serving the children and is fondly remembered as the roll lady who was nice to everyone. She was a member of Arnett Chapel where she attended for over 25 years. Norma will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be Sunday evening, September 19, 2021 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Arnett Chapel in Arnett, WV. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at Arnett Chapel with Pastor Larry Kinder officiating. Visitation will be held at noon and the funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Following the funeral, she will buried at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, WV.
