Reba Jewel (Shelton) Stone left to join family and friends waiting in her heavenly home, Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2024 after an extended illness. Reba was born August 20, 1937 to Alvin “Shorty” Shelton and Emma Scarbro Shelton. She was preceded in death by both parents. Also preceding her was her husband Orville Ray Stone in 2016, grandson Jeremy Dickens in 2023, brothers Bob and Tim Shelton, sister Helen Bragg. Also preceding her were her brother Arthur killed in Vietnam, and brother John Paul killed in an auto accident at 16. Several brothers died in infancy. She is survived by her children, Barry of Daniels, Brenda (James) Dickens, of Masseyville, Jeff and Mark of Masseyville, brothers Charlie and Jerry Shelton, and sister Betty Coakley of California. Grandchildren, Aaron (Renee) Dickens of Masseyville, Mitchell (Katie) Dickens of Grandview, and Kylie Stone of Lexington, KY. Great grandchildren Mayce Dickens, Lucas, John, and Myles Dickens, and Mason and Abby Hedgecock. Reba enjoyed the simple things of life. She loved a good cup of coffee and her favorite TV shows, Little House, Gunsmoke, and the Waltons. She was a cherished mother and grandmother that always put her family before herself. She claimed a sincere faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and had attended Arnett Chapel before poor health kept her close to home. She had been an Avon Products representative for years where she enjoyed making friends and meeting new people. She took pride in her independence and sported a great deal of spunk, which added to her longevity. In her last few years, she had been attended to by her children and canine family member Wilford, who kept her company and was very devoted to her. Graveside services for saying goodbye to Reba will be Friday, April 19th, at 5pm at Scarbro Cemetery, Rock Creek, with Pastor Larry Kinder attending. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to service at the gravesite. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Reba had rooted connections and family memories in Rock Creek. It was home to her. Reba loved Spring when everything was bursting anew. How fitting that she left us to start her new life in the very heart of the season! Oh, how she will be missed! Special thanks to ARH ICU doctors and staff who were so diligent and caring in the last weeks of her life. Last care arrangements are being served by Armstrong Funeral Home, of Whitesville, WV.
