Richard Douglas (Dickie) Combs

Richard Douglas (Dickie) Combs, of Sophia formerly of Montcoal, passed away on May 5 ,2023 at the age of 76. He was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country with honor and distinction, earning four service medals for his bravery and dedication. Dickie was a man of many passions, including golf, fishing, softball, pool, and pinball. He was a pinball king and could often be found at the local bars, racking up high scores. Born Sept 28, 1946, to James and Lura Combs of Montcoal WV, Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Shelby and his niece, Paula Worthington. He is survived by his sister, Jackie and her husband, Joe Worthington of SC, as well as his 4 daughters: Rene Hallstead and her husband, Sean of Lowell, NC; Jennifer Combs of Dry Creek, WV; and Jamie Combs and her companion, Antwan of Beckley, WV, Kimberly Pizzo and husband, Frank of Miami; a son, Michael Jones and wife, Loni of Kansas City. A Special Friend Who was like a daughter, Mary Hobbs and husband, Robert of NC. Dickie was also blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 1:00 in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV with Freddie Long speaking. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV. Pallbearers will be: Josh Combs, Dylan Combs, Travis Cantley, Maxel Williamson, Jordan Clark and Sean Halstead.
