Rick Warren, 67, of So. Charleston passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 due to complications of Crohn's Disease. He was born on December 28, 1955 to Bob and Imogene Warren of Seth, WV. Rick was a 1974 graduate of Sherman High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He was also a graduate of West Virginia State University. Rick was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals where he played on the minor league team. He was very knowledgeable of different sports and was in his glory watching various games on television, especially football. He also coached Little League baseball. Due to his illness, he took early retirement from John Amos Power Plant where he was employed for 28 years. He was predeceased by his daughter Olivia Rayne in 2017. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Lynne, daughter Gabrielle and her two daughters Havyn and Journey. He is also survived by his stepson (whom he raised) Ralph Fox and his children, Lauren and Jordan of Morgantown, WV, brother Dr. Randy Warren of Huntington and sister Mechele Thacker and daughter Asyton of Scott Depot. He also will be remembered by his numerous friends and relatives in Boone County. Private services and interment were held on Friday, October 27 at the Pineview cemetery in Orgas, WV with speaker Forrest Ramsey officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville.
