Robert Pierre Seanze

Robert Pierre Seanze, also known as “Rob” and “Pierre”, 76, of Sylvester, WV, formerly of Whitesville, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at WVU Medicine/Thomas Memorial Hospital. Robert enlisted in the US Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam. After his discharge he resumed working in the coal mines, retiring after approximately 43 years. In 1969 he married the love of his life Brenda Duncan. In the early years before his father’s death, they would take the dogs and spend Sundays in the mountains, digging ginseng and “moochies”. Later, once the 4-wheelin’ craze began, he enjoyed riding and camping with his brother, brothers-in-law and nephews for many years. He was an avid WVU football fan. His absence from everyone’s life leaves an unfillable void. He was loved more than he knew. Mountaineers are always free! He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Marguerite Florentz Seanze, his sister, Edith Strickland and a niece, Jessica Carr. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Duncan Seanze; three sisters: Marilyn Brown (John), Barbara Carr, and Laura Lilly; one brother, William Owen Seanze (Winnie); one brother-in-law, Jess Stanley Duncan; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two cats, Darcy and Cricket. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV with Rev. Mike Kenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV. The visitation will be 2 hours before the service at the funeral home.
