Sandra Faye (Presswood) Coots, 78, of Belmont NC, formerly of Colcord, WV received her miracle of healing and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Sandra was born on May 30, 1944 in Harlan Kentucky to Emerson and Nellie (Deal) Presswood. Sandy graduated from the Lucy Flower Vocational School located in Chicago, Illinois in 1962. Chicago is where she met her sweetheart, Fred Coots. They were married on December 22, 1962 and spent the next 53 years making a life together. She spent most of her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sandy will always be known for her smile and infectious laugh. If you heard her laugh you automatically had to smile. Anyone who knew Sandy knew her love for the Lord. She was not afraid to witness to others no matter where she was. This continued up until God called her home. If she saw someone in need of prayer, no matter the circumstances, she would stop what she was doing and lay her hands on them and pray. She was a member of the Sycamore Free Pentecostal Church of God where she served as the Sunday School Secretary for many years. She continued to be a member of the church until 2018 when she moved to North Carlina to be close to her daughter. Sandra worked for the Wendy’s Corporation for 22 years and retired there in 2012 where she was known to give “family discounts” because she considered everyone family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Coots, sons, Fred “Ricky” Coots and Dennis Coots, grandson Jason Simpkins, brother Dennie, and sisters Ada, Anna, Willa, Edith, Barbara, and Taline. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Regina Simpkins of Westminister, MD and Sherri Maynor (Sherri)of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren: Kelli Simpkins (Victor) of Bureau, WA, Ryan Simpkins (Amanda) of Copperas Cove, TX, and Jacob Maynor (April) of Ranlo, NC and Ike Maynor of Charlotte, NC; Great Grandchildren: Avery Brooke Maynor, Jonah Kyle Maynor and Maximus Patrick Simpkins, special niece, Pam Wood, and many other extended family and friends who will miss her. Graveside services for Sandy will be Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV at 1:00pm. There she will be laid to rest alongside her sweetheart. Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV is in charge of the arrangements. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude and love to the staff at the Lincolnton Atrium Hospital in Licolnton, NC who provided Sandy with love, compassion, patience, and excellent care; with a special thank you to Dr. Benn. As Sandy would say “May God give you double portions of blessings.”
