Sherry Nan Hoppe (Walker), born September 4, 1957, passed away on April 12, 2025. Sherry Nan Hoppe, age 67, of Dorothy, WV, passed away peacefully at Bowers House on April 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Born in Charleston, WV, on September 4, 1957, to Carl Flynn Walker and Doris Emogeen Walker (Belcher), Sherry demonstrated a passion for learning from a young age. She excelled academically, graduating with honors, earning a 4.0 GPA from Morris Harvey and a master’s degree from Marshall University. Sherry dedicated her life to caring for others, especially her children—Robert, Toni, the late Carla, and Rebecca—who were her greatest joy. She poured her heart into being a mother, and later a grandmother and great-grandmother, never missing a chance to show her love through thoughtful gestures, sweet notes (often about mischievous leprechauns), quiet support, or simply being there with open arms. She touched the lives of countless students as a special education teacher for grades K-6. She poured her heart into her work, nurturing and inspiring young minds. A devout Christian, Sherry found solace and community at Colcord Presbyterian Church, where she shared her faith and kindness with others. She was preceded in death by her parents; Carl Flynn Walker and Doris Emogeen Walker (Belcher); her sister and brother-in-law, Ida Carol and Harry Dub Honaker; Pearl and Tom Cash; Othella Meeks Belcher; Everette “Boots” Belcher; Rebecca Susan Belcher; her husband, Henry James Hoppe; her daughter, Carla Marie Hoppe; William Van Austin; and Willa Belcher. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert James Hoppe, Toni Michelle Foster, and Rebecca Doreen Sands (Dennis); her brother, Mike Paul Walker (Joanie); her sister-in-law, Joanne Sterling; grandchildren: Courtney Marie Roles (Josh), Ty Henry Foster, Laci Dawn Ceravolo, Levi James Hoppe, Zoey Jo Gunnoe, and Keeley Marie Hoppe; and great-grandson, Blake Carson Roles. She also leaves behind beloved nieces Lynn Honaker and Sarah Wheeler; cousins Carrie, Justin, Jim, James, Daniel, Ava, Noah, and Caroline Peaytt; and dear friends Tina and Sarah Willman. Sherry’s life was filled with grace, strength, and a deep love for her family. She made the world a better place just by being in it—and those who loved her will carry her spirit in their hearts forever. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the Colcord Presbyterian Church Colcord, WV with Erica Layton, C.P. officiating.

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”
