Shirley Mae Carr

Shirley Mae Carr, 85, of Seth, WV passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 after a long illness. Shirley was born on May 22, 1937.  She was preceded in death by her parents Monroe and Virgie (Stover) Carr; brothers, Edward, Marcus, Lawrence, Eugene and Bobby; and sister, Vivian. She is survived by several nieces and other extended family members and friends. Shirley was a proud 1955 graduate of Sherman High School and became a mainstay of the Seth community for the more than forty (40) years working at Stop-N-Shop, a local grocery store, until it permanently closed.  She enjoyed spending time with friends at various local meeting places and those who knew her well would lovingly agree that she had an opinion about most issues and wasn’t afraid to share it. Shirley was loved and will be missed. It is with gratitude the family acknowledges the staff of Hillcrest Healthcare Center, Danville, WV for providing compassionate long-term and end of life care to Shirley. Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV is in charge of arrangements.  There will be no public service.
