Virginia “Jenny” Miller Bonds of Drews Creek, WV passed away on March 25, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born on August 29, 1921 in Drews Creek, she was the daughter of the late J. Byrd Miller and Rebecca “Margie” Workman Miller. Jenny graduated from Marsh Fork High School in Montcoal, WV. She returned to the classroom at the age of 45 at Concord College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at the age of 55. She spent her career with Raleigh County Head Start, and served as the curriculum coordinator until her retirement. Jenny was a member of Delbert Freewill Baptist Church in Drews Creek. She was a founder of the Pine Knob Ramp Dinner and was one of the many people who organized and worked the event until her health declined. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading books about Amish Life. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and many friends. In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Bonds, brothers Virgil Miller, Howard Miller, Sterling “Ted” Miller and Byrd Miller; infant sister Georgie Miller; daughter-in-law Gayle Adkins Bonds; great-grandson Andrew Thompson; nephews Andy Miller, Larry Brown, and niece Judy Brown. She is survived by her loving son Randall Bonds of Naoma, WV; granddaughters Angie (Sandy) Nesmith of Shady Spring, WV and Cherie (Tim) Cook of Drews Creek; great grandchildren Jordan (Shayla) Cook of Crab Orchard, WV, Tori (Donovan) Rucker of Cary, NC, Tristen Nesmith of Shady Spring,WV and Tyler Cook of Drews Creek; great-great grandchildren Brayden Cook and Ariella Cook both of Crab Orchard; her sister and best friend Mabel Brown of Drews Creek, sister-in-law Mary Miller of Charleston, WV and special friends Deloris Workman, Peggy Gilfilen, Alvie Pettry and Susie Miller. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 1:00pm at Delbert Freewill Baptist Church in Drews Creek, WV with Rev. Danny Gilfilen officiating and the Turner Family singing. Friends may call on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, WV. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Drews Creek. The family would like to extend special thanks to Raleigh Center and Bowers Hospice House for their kindness and care during an extremely emotional time.
