Woodrow Lee (Woody) Boggess

     The family of Woodrow Lee Boggess Jr (Woody) of Naoma, WV is saddened to announce his passing on August 28, 2022 at the age of 76. He passed peacefully at The Bower’s Hospice House. He was born at Sundial, WV to Woodrow and Sarah Boggess on May 4, 1946. Woody was a workaholic. In his younger years he worked in the mines as a general laborer and a belt man. He was an awesome mechanic that could do just about anything. He loved to do outside work such as building things. He loved to build beautiful cabins, loved to cut trees, cut firewood and loved to stack it. He had dogs and had a love for them that was just as unconditional as their love for him. Woody was a prankster who loved to pull a prank on anyone and everyone. He was also an artist of cartoons. His cartoons of family and friends were the funniest and the best. There was always laughter and humor in Woody. He will sadly be missed. Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Sarah Boggess. Although he loved both of his parents, he loved his mother dearly. Losing her left him with a broken heart. Woody was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sadie Mae, Sylvia Ann Boggess and Carol Sue Clark. Nephews, Bobby Joe, Jimmy John, Buddy Boggess and Cameron David Hall. Nieces, Anna Marie Boggess, and Renee Marie Willer. Those left to cherish his memories are his brothers; Dewey of Surveyor, WV, Jessie (companion, Sherri) of Dry Creek, WV, Kenneth and Johnny (Debbie) of Naoma, WV. his sisters; Joann Marshall of Whitesville, Maggie (James) Oiler of Thurmond, Ohio, and Bessie (Bobby) Webb of Naoma. Nephews; Joseph Willer, Jessie Boggess II and Bobby Webb Jr (Abigail); Nieces; Sadie (Garry) Dickens, Teresa Boggess (Damon), Elizabeth (Randall) Watkins, Jennifer (Timothy) McBride, Sarah Faye Boggess, Emily (Craig) Woods, Anna Hager, Melanie (Mark) Anderson, Deidra (Jamie) Lee, Rosanne Willer and Leigh Ann Webb (Mike). Woody also leaves behind a companion, Donna Workman and family, and a numerous number of friends. Services will be held on Friday, September 2nd, 2022, at 2’ o clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV. with Pastor Phillip Buttery officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Woody will be laid to rest at the Don Jarrell cemetery at Dry Creek, WV.  The family would like to thank the staff at The Bower’s Hospice House for the support and comfort care provided to and for Woody. They deeply appreciate their expression of sympathy given to them in their time of need. A special thank you to his sister Bessie, Bo, nieces Elizabeth, Jennifer and Rosanne.
