When Someone Dies

The loss of a loved one is a difficult thing to go through.  Armstrong Funeral Home understands that this is a trying time for the family and friends of the recently deceased.  We attempt to make the grieving process a little easier by providing funeral planning and other services.  These are things to do before and after the Funeral Service.

Funeral Home Directors are available at any time a death occurs to transport the deceased to the funeral home from the place of death. They will then perform services regarding the care of the individual as requested by the family.  This will often include embalming, washing, dressing, and cosmetology.

Soon after the death, Armstrong Funeral Home will arrange a meeting with the family to discuss the necessary paperwork and arrange for funeral services.  The funeral home will take care of all filing of death certificates, authorizations and permits.  In addition, all other arrangements regarding the cemetery, insurance claims, veterans benefits, and similar inquiries will be handled by the funeral home director.

Composing an obituary may be a difficult process for the family of the recently deceased.  The funeral home director endeavors to make this process a little easier by gathering the necessary information and preparing the obituary.  The director will then see to sending the obituary to the newspapers and publications requested by the family.

In addition to these basic preparation and planning services, the funeral home will contact any officiates, clergy members, or other individuals or groups the family requests to participate in the services.  They will also provide the necessary or requested memorial items, such as acknowledgement cards, guest book, memorial tributes, or prayer cards.  The primary goal of the funeral director is to take as much burden as possible off of the family so that they may appropriately grieve the loss of their loved one.
